What should I have with slow cooker preach chicken?
You can have whatever you want with a slow cooker peach curry. That’s the best thing about it. We normally have a mixture of:
Wholemeal rice
Naan bread
Chips
Cauliflower rice
Mango chutney
If you like the idea of making your own homemade naan bread then you’ll need:
1x 7g sachet dried yeast
2 tsp golden caster sugar
300g strong white bread flour, plus extra for dusting
5g tsp baking powder
150ml natural yogurt
Start by adding the white flour and yeast together with the sugar. Then add 125ml of warm water to the bowl with the baking powder then mix so all the contents come together.
Lay it on a floured surface and roll it out until it stops sticking. You may need to add a little bit of extra flour.
Cut into six to eight balls and flatten them.
Heat a hot pan (with no oil) and add them one at a time. They normally take about three minutes or so per side but keep an eye on them as they do burn easily.
Slow cooker peach chicken
This slow cooker peach chicken is really easy to make and great for the whole family. It has very little heat in it and the curry sauce is quite thick which covers rice nicely.
We can add more peaches if you wish but we only normally use one.
You can also swap the vegetable oil for a dash of water if you want to make this dish extra healthy.
This curry recipe does take about 6 – 8 hours minutes to cook but it is well worth the wait! You can use frozen peaches, fresh peaches, or tin peaches. Chicken thighs work great but we use frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts.
This slow cooker peach chicken below is made for four people but you can scale it up with more chicken and add some frozen vegetables. This slow cooker recipe is great for those rush evenings when you need a main meal on the table.
Don’t be afraid to use instant pot noodles if you prefer.
All of this can be prepped in the morning or the night before. Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker pot (apart from the rice) and cook on low for 8 – 10 hours.
When you are ready to serve, cook the rice as per the packet instructions.
2 chicken breasts £1.20,
400g tin peaches 34p,
200g frozen peppers 40p,
1 red onion 28p,
2 tbsp brown sugar 5p,
4 tbsp soy sauce 7p,
1 tbsp ground ginger 5p,
250g rice 30p.
Total: £2.69 that’s 67p per person.

Start by cutting up the chicken thighs or chicken breast into chunks. There is no need to pre-cook the chicken.
Then cut up the peppers if needed. We use frozen peppers so they are already all cut up.
Measure out the other ingredients and add them all to the slow cooker including the tinned peaches and the juices.
Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 – 8 hours.
When you are ready, take the lid off and cook the rice as per the packet instructions.
Serve when rice is ready.
