I put GreenSheets Laundry Detergent to the test!
As a working mum of three (two in primary school and one permanently covered in something unidentifiable), I feel fairly qualified to talk about laundry. In our house, the washing machine runs more often than the kettle – and that’s saying something.
I decided to try Laundry Detergent GreenSheets after looking for ways to cut costs without sacrificing results. With five of us generating muddy PE kits, food-stained uniforms and the odd mystery spill, I can’t afford to waste money on products that don’t deliver.
First off, the price per wash works out noticeably cheaper than the branded liquid I’d been buying. Because the sheets are pre-measured, there’s no accidental over-pouring (which I suspect was happening more than I’d like to admit) That alone has helped keep our monthly grocery bill in check. Also the MESS factor has also been removed!
One of the biggest wins for us is that they’re non-bio. With three children, one of whom has fairly sensitive skin, I’m always cautious about switching detergents. We’ve had no irritation at all, which gives me real peace of mind. It’s reassuring to find something budget-friendly that’s still gentle enough for the whole family.
And I have to mention the lavender scent – it smells absolutely amazing. It’s fresh and calming without being overpowering, and the clean washing actually keeps that lovely fragrance once it’s dry. There’s nothing nicer than opening the airing cupboard and getting that soft lavender smell instead of a harsh chemical whiff.
Another plus is that you can buy both the laundry detergent sheets and matching fabric softener, which I really like. It means I can keep the same lovely scent running through our washing without having to mix brands, and it simplifies the weekly shop.
In terms of performance, I was pleasantly surprised. School shirt collars came up clean, everyday grime shifted well, and even dried-on pasta sauce didn’t defeat it. For really stubborn stains (think grass + mud + who knows what else), I still use a bit of stain remover beforehand, but I had to do that with our old detergent too.
Another unexpected bonus is storage. The sheets take up barely any space in the cupboard – a real win in a busy family kitchen where every inch counts. No heavy bottles, no leaks, and the kids can’t easily tip it everywhere.
From a money-saving perspective, I like that:
- You know exactly how many washes you’re getting.
- There’s no waste from overdosing.
- They’re lightweight and easy to store in bulk when on offer.
Are they perfect? For heavily soiled sports kits, I sometimes use two sheets, which slightly reduces the cost advantage. But overall, for day-to-day family washing, they’ve more than held their own.
For busy parents trying to stretch the household budget without compromising on clean uniforms, I’d say GreenSheets are well worth a try. They’ve earned a permanent spot in our laundry routine – and anything that makes family life a little simpler (and cheaper) gets my vote.
