I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m well noisy when it comes to other people’s lives. I love getting to know the writers behind the blogs and finding out what makes other parents tick, so when Jenni from Chilling with Lucas tagged me for this, I was part chuffed, part anxious to come up with something funny to say!
So anyway, here’s my answers, as one part of S4SM crew.
What was the highlight of 2016?
2016 has been such a great year for me. I’ve launched two blogs, The Unsung Mum and this one last month with my very good friend Eleanor. I’ve met some amazing people through blogging, found my tribe and been really lucky that my first year of going freelance has been a success.
Name one thing you are most likely to remember about 2016 if asked in five years time?
Err, well as most people know I have a dreadful memory, but I’d probably remember it as a year we lost a bunch of celebrities, Brexit and Trump.
Sum up 2016 in one word.
Busy! Now my freelance writing has kicked off, and both blogs are going really well, I’ve been managing my time between them and the kids. Every evening is dedicated to working or blogging, while the days are devoted to the kids. To be honest, I’ve no idea how we fit anything in!
Name one pearl of wisdom from 2016 that you will carry with you through 2017.
That life is too short and always make sure you’re happy. Money isn’t everything, and kids won’t remember how much money you spend on them, only the time you’ve taken to BE with them. (Phew, careful, I was getting all grown up and serious then! It’s ok, I’m back now, though.)
Do you have any new year resolutions?
Not really. Just the same old things I try and do throughout the year. Eat less, spend less, more family time, try and get the kids to eat more fruit and vegetables (ha) and sleep through the night. (Never going to happen.)
How did you see in the New Year?
We stayed in. The Hub was working till 730pm anyway, so we got a few treat bits the day before I cooked them ready for him to come in. The kids were in bed for 7 pm as we went to the zoo that day. We ended up being awake at midnight for all the fireworks, as The Eldest woke up wanting to watch the fireworks scared so we all sat on the bed, watching them out of our window till they finished.
What would you most like to do in 2017?
I’d love to go on an actual family holiday! Such the kids were born, we haven’t been able to afford one. Just something simple would do, like a caravan on the Isle of Wright or Glamping in Somerset. I’m not overly picky…
What are your main goals for 2017?
To make Savings 4 Savvy Mums a success! We want to find the best deals for our community, while writing a brilliant blog that not only saves our readers money but also gives them a snippet into our lives as parents. We would love to monetize it too, but I think that’s a few months off yet!
My personal goal is to see The Eldest settled into school in September. She currently goes to a preschool a couple of miles away, so all her class will be new! Scary times!!!
What are your New Years resolutions?
Let Them Be Small, This Mummy Loves, Mum’s The Nerd, The Smallest of Things and Mrs Mummy Harris.
