The Christmas Tag

Sharing is caring!

I’ve been tagged by the amazing Alice from Living with a Jude to answer some questions about our family Christmas. I’m not an overly Christmas person, but my husband is, and of course the kids are too.

So here’s a bit about our family Christmas….

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

It has to be Love Actually. I normally try and stay clear of cheesy movies, but then I saw Love Actually. Wow, picture me surprised! I laughed out loud at the Bill Nighy and Gregor Fischer bit, mocking “Love is all Around” and I was hooked. It cracked me up!

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Not on Christmas day unfortunately. We had snow once, a week before when I was a kid, and it was ace. We’ve also had it in January last year and it blew my eldest’s mind! I want snow!

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At home or at a family members house of course! I may not love Christmas, but I love the family time that comes with it. The snuggles under a blanket watching a film, playing with new toys and reading new books; all bliss in my eyes.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

I’m not fond of cheese, but my husband loves “All I Want for Christmas” by Mariah Carey. Pretty sure he loves the video more though…..

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Noooo way! We leave Santa and Rudolph a mice pie and a carrot though. Oh, and a cheeky port to warm him up!

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Errr, there’s a Vixen and Prancer right? No I can’t!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake. We ideally wanted a real one this year but weren’t sure if it could survive the multiple kid attacks. So we went with the classic fake tree again this year and hope that they may be old enough for a real one next year.

What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

Heroes. We don’t buy them any other time of year but at Christmas. Love a good box of chocs!

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Giving! I love watching peoples faces when they open up a surprise gift they didn’t realise they where getting. Watching the kids, or my husbands excitement on Christmas morning when they see a present they don’t recognize sat there is truly an amazing thing.

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

Now this is a hard one! I’ve received some pretty great gifts but I have two actually. Grab your sick bags because, of course, it involves the kids. One was when The Eldest was born. She was due in December but came at the end of November so we had her for Christmas Day. It was so magical having a baby and getting to enjoy the big day with her.

The second was when we found out we where pregnant with The Baby. I didn’t have a clue at all. It wasn’t until The Hub started to question me about feeling ill all the time that it clicked. After trying for The Eldest for over a year, to conceive The Baby so quickly was a Christmas Miracle!

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Anyone who doesn’t say Lapland is lying! Where else would you want to be?

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

Oh, I’m so bad! The Hub is the master of all things wrapping. Seriously, he is the man!

Most memorable Christmas moment?

The carbon monoxide alarm going off on Christmas morning when I was a teen. It took us ages to find out what the noise was, and ended up having to wait for all our presents until an engineer could come round! It’s funny now!

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

Me and my younger sister couldn’t sleep one Christmas Eve and heard our mum downstairs. She was having a drink with our step-nan and step-dad while stuffing our stockings. We watched them from the top of the stairs and laughed as they tried to fit everything in. Very funny. We still talk about it now.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Family time. My husband works long shifts so its so nice when he gets a few days off with us all. Also, having everyone under one roof! Love big family Christmases!

Well, now you know all about me and our ideal Christmas, I think it’s time we stalk someone else. Ashleigh, it’s over to you!
